The Story & The Artist Add a piece of Meiji-era history to your collection with this exquisite Japanese mixed-metal bronze vase. Hand-signed by the artist Seigetsu (晴月) on the side, this piece dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. Unlike mass-produced vintage souvenirs, this vase features hand-chiseled details and genuine "Zogan" (inlay) work, a hallmark of skilled Japanese metalwork from the Meiji (1868–1912) to Taisho (1912–1926) periods.

Artistry & Symbolism The vase features a beautifully rendered bird in flight (likely a swallow or sparrow) amidst blooming chrysanthemums.

  • Chrysanthemums (Kiku): The national flower of Japan and a symbol of longevity, rejuvenation, and the Imperial family.

  • Mixed Metal Inlay: The bird and flowers are highlighted with subtle gold and silver-toned alloys ,which catch the light beautifully against the dark, original bronze patina.
